My Story

Hello,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tara McLean. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Holy Fire Reiki Master. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with everyone as a solo practitioner.

I am a 2009 graduate of the Massage Therapy Institute of Western Pennsylvania (MTI) where I earned my diploma in the study of Massage Therapy. In addition to a diploma of Massage Therapy, I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and a Master of Education Curriculum & Instruction from William Woods University.

Upon graduating from Massage Therapy school in 2009, I spent the first year of my career practicing in the Westmoreland county area of PA. I then spent the subsequent two years of my career practicing massage therapy in Myrtle Beach, SC. In 2012, I returned to the Westmoreland county area where I have been practicing Massage Therapy ever since.

As a Massage Therapist I enjoy helping people and strive to meet their needs on an individual basis. I offer Swedish, Deep Tissue, Cupping, and Hot Stone Massage. However, if someone were to inquire about the type of massage in which I specialize, I would say that I specialize in providing Therapeutic Massage. Although I make adjustments to my massage to best serve the needs of each client, a session with me typically includes a combination of medium to deep pressure with Swedish style strokes, some trigger point release, muscle stripping, and Myofascial Release techniques. The main objective of my practice is to help relieve each client’s pain and stress-related issues.

Although I have been practicing massage therapy for 17 years I do not offer prenatal or “pregnancy” massage for expectant mothers. I do not have formal training or a certification in this modality. Because I do not have experience with prenatal massage, I also have limited experience with clients who require side-lying massage. To ensure that clients to whom these conditions apply receive the best massage service possible, I will refer them to another therapist that specializes in these modalities.

In addition to offering clients massage therapy services, I am pleased to announce that I recently completed all of the training requirements for Holy Fire Reiki. Under the tutelage of the great Corina Berkoben, I became a Certified Holy Fire Reiki Master. I am thrilled to now be offering Holy Fire Reiki sessions to clients in addition to massage therapy. I am very excited to embark on this new journey of holistic healing as it will allow me to help many people in new and different ways.

During the time that I am not practicing massage or reiki, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets (although to me they are one and the same). I have a wonderful husband, two cats, and a horse all of whom are my world. I still enjoy horseback riding but, I have not ridden competitively for many years now. In addition to this hobby,  my other passions are amusement parks and the preservation of classic hand-carved carousels 💍🐈‍⬛🐈🐎🎢🎠💕😊
